Groundhog's Day

Will The Groundhog See It's Shadow?

Materials: Groundhog form, graph sheet, large graph for bulletin board, groundhog picture for bulletin board.

Directions: Have students vote for whether they believe the groundhog will see it's shadow by using this form.  Once students have voted, they will tally how many votes there are for yes and for no. Students can fill out their own graph as the teacher fills out the graph created for the bulletin board.  Next, have students create questions based on the graph.
Post the questions and the graph on the board with the words "Will The Groundhog See It's Shadow?"

Valentine's Word Search
 

Materials: Aluminum foil, Hershey's kiss pattern, oak tag paper, white construction paper strips OR white streamers.

Directions: Create patterns in the shape of a Hershey's Kiss.  Have students trace it on oak tag paper and cut.  Then, cover the pattern in aluminum foil and tape down. Glue usually won't work!  Next, have students write a Valentine message on the strips/streamers and attach to their Hershey's Kiss.  Add to pink or red bulletin board.  As an added activity, have students write Valentine letters to family members or poems to attach with their Hershey's Kiss.
