Character is any person who appears in a
fictional work. In addition to people, characters can be aliens,
animals, gods or, occasionally, inanimate objects. There are main
characters and supporting characters. Flat characters are one dimensional with a few, easy to define traits. Round characters are fully developed characters with the complexities of a real person. |

| Plot is the structure of the action of a story. A plot has three main parts: rising action, climax, and falling action leading to a resolution or denouement. Plot is also define as the action or sequence of events in a story. | ||

Literary Element #5: Point of View |
||
| Point of view is the way an author chooses to tell (narrate) a story. It is sometimes called voice. There are two types of point of view: A story can be narrated by a character. This is called first person point of view. The words "I" and "we" are used by the narrator. A story can be told by a nameless central observer outside the story. This is called third person point of view. The words "he" and "she" are used by the narrator. | ||
