Hello! My name is Erika Gomez-Schanne and I am a Literacy Coach in Passaic, New Jersey. 

This site was originally started in 2001 when I decided to share my resources with teachers in my school.  From there it grew into Busy Teacher's Cafe, a large teacher resource site.  Due to the enormous size of the Internet and the unimaginable amount of information available to teachers, many educators found it difficult to sift through the information to find the useful and practical resources.  This site is geared towards providing teachers with reliable, practical information and avoiding the useless garble found on the Internet.  I hope this site meets that goal for you.

My background:
I graduated from William Paterson University with a BA in Elementary Education and History. I have my M.Ed. in Reading and have recently completed my M.Ed. in Educational Leadership. I currently hold the following New Jersey teaching certifications:

My teaching experience includes grades K - 3, as well as bilingual and ESL education.  This is now my 14th year as an educator.
